Halloween Cards

The first two cards are Halloween cards, using the Halloween Smiles (retired) set, and the House of Haunts set. I used black lace from the mini on both cards. I'm also posting a Birthday card that I made last month and never posted. It is a very quick card, using 3 new punches- 2 1/2" circle, decorative label, 2 3/8" scallop circle XL, and the wide oval. I made a Baby Shower card using the same layout, but forgot to take a pic of it.

Holiday Mini Preview

I finally got to use some of my new stuff since it's cloudy and not quite as hot upstairs today. The first card has a Chocolate Chip base, stamped all over with the spots from the French Foliage set in the mini. I used the leaves and words in the set to make the stamp the main image using Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze (also the bg for the image), Old Olive, and Crumb Cake. The ribbon is Pumpkin Pie Satin. I used the new Decorative Label punch to punch out the Thanks from Thank You Kindly. The next card was very quick and easy. I used the set Tags Till Christmas, and colored the stamp with markers to get 2 different colors. I used the Deck the Halls DSP and the Always Artichoke Seam Binding, both new in the mini. The scallop squares are from the Scallop Squares Duo Big Shot Die, also new in the mini. The last card is a case of a card in the mini on page 15. I used Riding Hood Red, River Rock, and Deck the Halls DSP. The ornament stamp is from Tags till Christmas. I used the Northern Flurries Embossing Folder to make the snowflakes in the bg. I used the Ornament Punch, Scallop Squares Duo Die, and the Decorative Label Punch again. I also used the Very Vanilla seam binding, and a pearl in the middle of the ornament.

SCS291

This is a card I made for an upcoming wedding. The main color is Pacific Point. The DSP is Blueberry Crisp. I used the Punch Potpourri set for the heart (I cut it out by hand because I don't have the full heart punch), and the flower, which I punched out with the blossom punch. I used the other two flowers from that stamp/punch on the inside of the card. The sentiment is from Happiness Always, an older SAB set, and it's on a tag from Lots of Tags sizzlets. The ribbon is white satin. I put one of the new adhesive jewels in the middle of the flower.

Embossing Folders

I saw the first card on Patty's blog and had to try it. It says "let the relaxation begin! (happy retirement) on the tag cut from the Lots of Tags sizzlets. I used flowers from the Pretties kit and colored one with the Rose Red marker. I used the new antique brads in the middle of the flower, and the new adhesive pearls, along with some pearls from the Pretties kit to put inside the circles of the Always Elegant Embossing Folder. For the 2nd card, I used the square lattice embossing folder. I got the color combo from the new color coach: Pacific Point, Rose Red, and Pumpkin Pie. The sets used are Kind and Caring Thoughts, and Teeny, Tiny Wishes. I also used one of the scallop border punches at the bottom.

Catalog CASEs

Both of these cards were cased from the catalog. The first card is exactly like the card on the Just Believe page. This card is by far my favorite of the catalog. I clear embossed the largest stamp, then layered the piece of Vanilla with the sentiment on top. I used the Color Sprayer and Soft Suede marker to put the brown dots on the card. The ribbon is 5/8 Satin Very Vanilla. For the next card, I embossed the Perfect Plum layer in the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder. Then I stamped the Butterfly from Perfect Punches Hostess Level 1 set and cut it out with the scallop rectangle Clearlit. I layered it on a piece of Rose Red (got the color combo from the new Color Coach), and added a RR button and some Organdy ribbon. This card idea was based on the card next to the Butterfly Prints set in the catalog.

Jaylon loves SU!

Well, he loves the boxes anyway. I carried my new Stampin order upstairs in the box, then set the box down while I was putting my things away. When I turned around, I saw Jaylon relaxing in the box. Malachi was guarding the bathroom door, as usual. I still haven't thrown the box away, because they have been laying, and playing, in it.

SCS288

I made this today using the Daisy #2 Big Shot Die and the Hi emblosslit. I used sketch 288. My new catalog stuff should arrive today, so I will have new things to post this week!

SCS287

This is for SCS287. I used the new Friends Never Fade set, and Greenhouse Gala DSP. The ribbon is from a past originals collection.

Card based on Mistakes

This card turned out completely different than I had planned because I kept messing up. It was going to have a Soft Suede base that had a texture plate background on it. I still can't get the hang of using the texture plate on a card base, so I messed it up, and ended up having to use the SS piece as background on a Not Quite Navy base. Then I tried to use the scallop corner and border punches around a piece of paper, but I messed up 2 corners, and decided just to cut them off. I stamped the Congratulations from the new Perfect Punches set and punched it with the modern label punch. The DSP behind the Fresh Cut Note is from Greenhouse Gala.

New Catalog Starts Tomorrow!

I made the first card today, since it is finally cool enough to stay upstairs for awhile. I used the new Greenhouse Gala DSP and the set Friends 24-7. The others I made the other day and never posted. I also cleaned up my stamping area and sorted through scraps that have been piling up for months. The new catalog starts tomorrow!

Case from Celebrando Creatividad

I used the Great Friend and Gracias sets. The Regal Rose piece is punched with the Curly Label. I also used the Color Sprayer and Early Espresso marker to spray the dots on the background. Small jewels were added to the flourishes above and below Gracias. I crumpled up the So Saffron strip, and added Marina Mist 1/8" taffeta to it. Very quick and Easy!

Font of You

The set used here is called Font of You. I got the color combo from the new Color Coach. The BG is Tres Chic, and I stamped it about halfway down the card. I added an epoxy brad from one of the past mini catties to the main image. I also added a piece of the new 1/8" Taffeta in Early Espresso to some old Baja Breeze to bring in more EE color. The sentiment says "Let a smile be your umbrella."

Monday, June 14, 2010

I got the idea for the first card from a sample from the catalog. The butterflies are cut from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. The ribbon is Marina Mist 1/8 taffeta, which is new this catalog. I added an epoxy brad from the Occassions mini, and used the swirly stamp from Elements of Style for some BG flourishes. The 2nd card is a sample of cards that I am making 45 of for someone to give to participants in a Fellowship Retreat. They are very simple since I had to make quite a few. My mom has been wanting to see a sample, so here ya go.

Monster Mania

I used this old Monster Mania set to make my Father's Day card this year. The sign he's holding says Hug Me on the stamp, but I inked the stamp with my black marker, and left that part out, then went back and used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp Happy Father's Day from Teeny Tiny Wishes on the sign.

Because I Care

This is a great set, and the best part about it is that it's free! This is a Level 1 hostess set in the new catalog which starts July 1 (demonstrators get one free this month if they preorder the new core colors bundle). I got this color combination idea from the New Color Coach. The colors are Perfect Plum, Marina Mist, and Rose Red. I also used my new Wild Wasabi marker to color the leaves on the flower. This card says Thank You, but there is another sentiment with the set that says "because I care."

New Catty Preview Cards

My preorder (with the new catalog!!) finally arrived yesterday, so I made some quick cards this afternoon.

The first card's BG is the new Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. I stamped the Thanks image from Perfect Punches in Pumpkin Pie, and punched it out with the Scallop Oval, and Layered that on an Old Olive Wide Oval. I finished it by adding some 5/8 OO satin ribbon on top (this is the best ribbon to tie!). The 2nd card's image is from Friends Never Fade. I inked the stamp with Delightful Daffodil first, then sponged Real Red onto the edges and a bit in the middle. The DP is called Greenhouse Gala. I added a pearl and some ribbon from an old originals pack, but there are 2 similar type ribbons in the new catalog, which I'm sure I will be ordering. I stamped Thank You from Teeny, Tiny Wishes in RR beside the pearl, but it doesn't really show in the pic. Both of these were quick and simple to make (they had to be because that room has no AC, and it was getting warm).

Sketch Challenges

The first card is for SCS277. I used the set Hola de Nuevo (the Spanish version of Hello Again which I got free during SAB), along with the Pink Flamingo DSP, and Crushed Curry Ribbon. The next card is for SCS280. I used this year's Ronald McDonald set, and Night and Day Speciality Paper from the Holiday Mini. I also used the 5/8 Satin ribbon from the current mini. I really like the way this ribbon feels, and it ties so easily. If there are more colors in the main catalog, I'll definitely be getting them. My catty should be here on Thursday!

Variations

I was organizing some of my paper, and found these pieces that I had cut for a workshop and were leftover. I decided to use them to make something. I made 6 of the first card, using the Vintage Vogue set on the top half of the Top Note. I used the Bella Toile BG on the Certainly Celery base. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. The butterfly was cut out using Beautiful Butterflies BS die. The ribbon is from a retired Designer Original Collection. For the 2nd card, I used an Old Olive base, the retiring Gratuitious Graffiti BG, Razzle Dazzle on the Top Note, and some Sweet Pea felt pieces.

Last Chance List is posted on SU! site

Stampin' Up! has posted their Last Chance list, and luckily this set is not on it! I made this card quickly for a shower at work tomorrow. The set is called Build-a-roo, with some Thoroughly Modern DSP. Also got to see (and order) some sneak peek items from the new catty that will start in July, so I will be able to post things I make with that stuff as soon as I get it next week!

Elements of Style

I cased this card from Dawn Griffith. (Her website is always great!) This set called Elements of Style is the only one I got from the Summer mini, but I will probably use it a lot. I also used the Smooch Spritz on this card, but I seem to be heavy handed with it. I need to spray from farther away I think, but I'm always afraid it will get on the carpet.

New Colors

I made this card using the samples of the new core colors that SU! sent all demonstrators. The colors are Marina Mist (blue), Daffodil Delight (yellow), Cajun Craze (rust), Early Espresso (Brown), and Cherry Cobbler (red). I used the flower fusion sizzlit, Beautiful Wings embosslit, Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, and the Elements of Style set that will be available in May when the summer mini starts.

SU! Color Renovation

Stampin' Up! has just announced that there will be a color renovation with the new catalog (July 1). Many current colors will be retired, while new colors are added and a few of the past in colors are brought back. Guess this means I need to go rearrange my stuff. :)

Beautiful Wings

This card is for a co-worker who is getting married next month. Her colors are turquoise and brown, so that's what I used here. I used my Beautiful Wings embosslit to get all these cute little butterflies. The sentiment is from Whimsical Words in the SAB brochure. The ribbon is from one of the designer original collections, with a corduroy button on one side of it. The DSP was from the Holiday mini. I also put 2 butterflies on the inside piece, and the large turquoise butterfly on the outside of the envelope.

SAB sets

These cards are for SCS260 and SCS261. I used Whimsical Words and Birthday Whimsy (from last year's SAB) on the first card. On the second card, I used the Good Neighbors set. The DSP on both cards is from the Welcome Neighbors pad in the SAB brochure.

Sketches and New Stuff

The first card is for SCS263. I used the Sending Love Specialty Paper from the mini. One side of each sheet is glittery.

The main image is from the Vintage Labels SAB set. I also used the new Real Red Satin Ribbon, and a RR button. The second card is for SCS262. I used the same DSP as the last card. The flower is from the mini. It's called Sweet Pea Stitched felt. The flowery background behind the felt piece is from the Vintage Vogue set. It is stamped in Chocolate Chip which I stamped off first to make the color a bit more subtle. I also used new Old Olive Satin Ribbon.

Sketches on a Snow Day

I had time to stamp today since it was a snow day! The first card was for SCS251. I used the new set With All My Heart (in clear mount) and Friends 24-7 from the main catalog. The second card is for SCS259. The Thanks piece is an embosslit cut out of Rich Razzleberry, with Shimmer Paint wiped on top of it. It looks kind of strange in the picture.

SAB starts tomorrow :)

Sale-a-Bration starts tomorrow! I had time to stamp today since we got out of school 2 hours early thanks to the snow. (And there's already a delay for tomorrow!) For the first card, I used the Something Sweet set out of the Occassions mini (which also starts tomorrow). The colors are Cameo Coral and

Tempting Turquoise. The DP is Pink Flamingo. The second card has a retired crocheted flower with a rhinestone middle, and the stem is from the new set Vintage Vogue. The DP is Autumn Meadows. This one was an old sketch from Splitcoaststampers.com, but I forget which number. Both cards have retired Designer Originals Ribbons on them. I love those ribbons!
