SAB starts tomorrow!

Sale-a-bration starts tomorrow and I will be up EARLY to place my order. Today I used the Top Note die to create some bag toppers for Valentine's day. (I wish that I already had my Yummy set that I'm getting for SAB! It would have been perfect for this.) I used the Candy Lane DSP, Flower Fusion 2, Build a brad (the heart in the middle is from In the Spotlight), and A Little Something Hostess Level 2 Stamp Set. The card is for my dad's birthday. The set is a retired set called Please be Seated. The sentiment is from A Little Birthday Cheer. The DPs are both from retired print packs. I used this week's sketch for it- SC213.

Happiness Always

I made this card with some leftover pieces from a card I had cut out last week. The butterfly and sentiment are from last catalog's hostess set Happiness Always. I scallop punched the bottom, and added some Baja Breeze ribbon. Very

quick and simple.

SC212

I really liked this week's sketch challenge. I instantly had a couple ideas about what I wanted to do. For the first card, I used Raspberry Tart DSP. Then I stamped the big circle from In the Spotlight in Kiwi Kiss and cut it out. Next, I stamped then flower in Pink Pirouette and punched it out. Then I stamped the "hello" circle in Riding Hood Red, punched it out, and put it on a build-a-brad. The sentiment is from Bella Blossoms. I added some Rose Red ribbon, brads, and HPH. The second card's image is from a Little Something. The paper is Almost Amethyst DP (from one of the hostess packs). Behind the heart that I cut out, I put a flower and hat pin from the pretties kit.

Still waiting on the new catty :(

I hate having to wait this long to get the new catalog. I can't take reading about what everyone else is already looking at, and not being able to see it for myself. Guess I'll be online tomorrow at 2 trying to download the catalog, along with everyone else who doesnt' have one yet. Oh well...hopefully it will arrive soon. I wasn't planning on ordering until SAB anyway. Here are two cards that I made yesterday to make with a brand new stamper. I got both of these ideas from the demonstrator magazine Stampin' Success. For the first one, I stamped Upsy Daisy in Riding Hood Red, and the sentiment in Kiwi Kiss using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to make it straight. I used filigree brads, a paperclip from the clips assortment, RHR Taffeta, Pink Pirouette striped grosgrain, and Bella Rose DSP. For the second card, I first stamped the flourish from Priceless in Versamark. Then I stamped the Thank You Curly Label stamp in Choc. Chip, and the flowers from Pocket Silhouettes in Kiwi Kiss. I punched it out with the Curly Label punch and added a mini library clip to the top. The DSP is Bella Rose, and the ribbon is Baja Breeze striped grosgrain. Hoping to make some more cards today and tomorrow since I'm off work :)

New (for me) Techniques

I'm not sure why, but today, I ended up doing two techniques that I've been meaning to try, but just never got around to. I also used two sets (All Scallops and Frames with a Flourish) that I just never think of to use as much as I should. For the first card, I used the watercoloring with crayons technique. I colored the flower from Bella's Blooms with watercolor crayons and sprayed (I should say lightly misted, because the first time I used too much water) the stamp, then stamped it. I stamped a frame from Frames with a Flourish to "layer" under the stamp, and stamped some scallops at the bottom of the card. The second card is emboss resisted, but I couldn't find my brayer to cover the rest of the white cardstock completely with ink, so I just sponged the Tangerine Tango on top. It's not what I had in mind, but it didn't turn out bad. The sentiment at the bottom is in TT, and a little hard to see in the pic, but it says "You're absolutely fabulous" from the set Absolutely Fabulous. I wish I had put some Baja Breeze striped ribbon under the twine and button, but I didn't think of that till later.

Sweet Stems Preview

Today I used some things that demos were able to pre-order and will be available in the new catty (Jan. 19th). I haven't gotten mine yet, but I've seen some and heard about lots of great new accessories. The first card I made was inspired by speedystampers card which can be seen here. I layered the Top Note Dies (one is Groovy Guava textured paper, the other is Pink Pirouette. I cut another Top Note out of Raspberry Tart DP and cut off the perforated edge to layer on the PP. I used the Sweet Stems embosslit to cut a flower out of the DP and layered it on a Wide Oval punched out of Very Vanilla and sponged with Apricot Appeal. I layered Double Sided Satin Ribbon onto PP striped ribbon, added a button, and the sentiment is from Absolutely Fabulous. The second card also has Raspberry Tart DP, and an image from Sweet Stems.

SCSNYE10

This challenge was to make something for a friend. The card I made is for a friend of my parents. She still talks about a time that we went out to eat (I was 2 years old) and I took a shrimp off of her plate. I wrote inside that this was to pay her back for the shrimp I took. The colors are Cameo Coral, Tempting Turquoise, and Ruby Red.

So Glad We're Friends page

I don't make scrapbook pages very often, because it takes me forever, but this one actually came together pretty quickly. I used the new Raspberry Tart DSP (from 2009 spring catty) as the main page, with some Groovy Guava textured paper on the side. I used 2 different ribbons from the last catalogs Ribbon Originals (Sherbert I believe this one was), and both assortments of felt flowers with some square rhinestone brads. The stickers and rhinestone lines are not from SU. The sentiment is from Best Yet. Like our shirts say in the top picture-Nothing beats a WV girl!

Challenges 5 & 6

Challenge 5 (SCSNYE05) was to use something new. I decided to use my new Designer Hardware (This one says Friends Forever), and I also used Elegant Notes, which I hadn't used yet. I also used the new Heart to Heart punch. I slightly dented the middle of the hardware when I put it on, because I wasn't paying attention and used the wrong side! It isn't bad though. I used the embossing stylus to try and push it back out a little, and that mostly fixed it. It shows up more in the picture than IRL. SCSNYE06 was to make something Asian Inspired. I used the new Hostess Set Dream a Little for this one.

More New Year's Eve Challenges

The 4th Challenge (SCSNYE04) was the 7 P's. You were to use 4 of the 7 things on your card-piercing, patterned paper, paper piecing, polka dots, pink, punches, and pop-dots. I used 6 of the 7-piercing (along the flourish), patterened pink polka dot paper (3 in 1!), punch, and pop-dots (under the punched piece). I also added pink speckles to the punched piece with a mesh tool thingy (don't know what that thing's called!). I also rolled the Illuminated wheel across the bottom edge in Choc. Chip. Challenge 3 (SCSNYE03) was to use embellishments with bling. I decided to make a shiny card, since I really wanted to use my Illuminations set that I just got. I used Gold CS for the card base, and stamped the image with versamark onto black paper. I put Gold EP on it and embossed. I layered it on top of shimmery white cardstock, and added some magic mesh to the cardbase because by this time, George had come to claim that he wanted that card to give to someone, so it needed to be kind of manly.
