Candy Bag

I wanted to do either the Scallop Bag, or Box #2 for an upcoming workshop, but couldn't really justify the cost of the die + the extended cutting pads for only one workshop, so I decided just to cut and score some paper to create something similar to the Scallop Bag. I borrowed the idea on page 3 of the upcoming mini. The stamp set is Simple Friendship on Real Red Textured paper. The tag in front was punched with the 1 3/4 circle. Then I added some Organza Ribbon. Stamp Camp guests will also have the option of using the new White Satin Ribbon in the mini. Inside will be a small cellophane bag filled with cinnamon disks. I also used the white gel pen to highlight the inside of the flowers.

Manhattan style

This card was inspired from the card on page 106. I added a chocolate chip layer with the eyelet border punch, and stamped a sentiment from Pocket Siohouettes onto the Sizzlet cut-out using the stamp-a-ma-jig to line it up. This will be a card we're doing at an upcoming Stamp Camp.

working on stamp camp cards

I spent some time tonight planning and beginning to work on cards that I will be making for a camp in April. Most things I can't finish yet because I need NEW things from the Occasions mini to complete them. I can pre-order in March and then post the finished products. I was thinking of making this 3x3 card as one of the projects, but I think it's too simple. I stamped Pocket Silhouettes and punched it out with the largest square punch. I then put on a chipboard scallop square as an outer layer, with some RHR taffeta om the side. I might make some as place holders or something though. I will probably change the red pillow box and do a scallop bag instead with some new 5/8 in. white satin ribbon wrapped around the top.

Branching Out

I love this set-Branch Out, but I hadn't had time to play with it yet. I started by using the Small Polka Dots Texture Plate on Always Artichoke, which I layered on Summer Sun. I stamped the tree in Close to Cocoa, and stamped leaves in Mellow Moss and Certainly Celery. The butterflies are in Lovely Lilac, and I added a tire swing in Black. The Thank You from Wow Flowers I stamped onto one of the Canvas Cuts shapes, and sponged the edges in Summer Sun. I added a small Choc. Chip felt flower with a yellow Fire Rhinestone brad, and some Choc. Chip ribon as embellishments. It might be a while before I post again, as I've got a very busy weekend coming up.

Using the Big Shot

I tried some more new toys tonight. I had seen people on Splitcoast who had put ink on their texture plates to give the image a multi-tonal look, so I decided to try it. I used Tempting Turqoise and just swiped it onto the texture plate, then ran it through the Big Shot. After I was finished, I just washed it in the sink.

Then I ran some Raspberry Tart DP through with the Top Note die, cut it in half, and used the stamp from Yummy on the bottom. I also used the flower blossom sizzlet with Cameo Coral. I cut a piece of the Sticky Pages to go behind the flower, and put black glitter on the stick part. Then I used some white organdy ribbon across the middle, and a white button in the middle of the flower. It took quite a while to make this card, I guess because it took me a while to cut the sticky page to fit under the flower.

Bella Style cards

I used two of Beate's weekend sketches today. The Three Little Words card was WSC37. I used Bella Rose DP, the eyelet border punch, and the ticket corner punch. I also added a fluerette and clear brad to the main image. I also took a picture of the inside, since I decorated it more than usual. The second card was WSC42. I used Bella Rose DP again, and the set Simple Friendship. I punched the image out with the 1 3/4" circle, and added a scallop circle nestie behind it. I also used RHR taffeta on both cards.

Still trying out new stuff!

The first card I made as a request -using only Brilliant Blue and White. The polka dot paper is vellum from the new Taste of Textiles paper. The flower image is from the new set Central Park. I also used the new white Organdy ribbon. The second card is for Beate's WSC68. I'm so glad she's doing sketches again. I used Urban Garden DP with my circle Nesties. The rooster is from Rustic Rooster, which is a Hostess level 2. I stamped the french BG image from this set on the striped DP in Sahara Sand. The sentiment is from Really Retro, and I stamped it on a tag cut out from the Lots of Tags sizzlets. The last card's image is from Fifth Avenue Floral. The DP is Urban Oasis. And I also used a Soho Designer Hardware piece on it.

SC215

This card is for SC215. I inked up the flowers from Thoughts and Prayers with Old Olive, Rose Red, and So Saffron markers. The red plaid DP is Bella Rose, and the saffron striped one is from Parisian Summer (I think that's the name...it's from the last catty). I used the eyelet border punch on the plaid piece. I also added a paper clip from the clips assortment, and some saffron ribbon from Ribbon Originals Dress Up.

New Stuff has arrived!

My first order from the new catalog arrived today! I have only mounted a few of the sets I bought, but I couldn't wait to use some of my new Big Shot stuff, so I made a quick card to post. First, I used the new SU! backgrounds texture plates. I was impressed with how deep the impression is (I had read a few posts on splitcoast saying that their impressions weren't very deep). I loved watching that rubber mat get spread out as the plate slid through the Big Shot! Then I used the Simple Flower embosslit to make the flower out of DP. I put a Kraft cordoroy button in the middle. Then I used the Lots of Tags sizzlet to cut out the piece for the sentiment, which was stamped from the new Really Retro set. Oh, and I used Riding Hood Red ribbon from the Originals Dress Up pack. So I think that's 6 new things I used! I'm going to go mount the rest of my sets, and will hopefully have time to post something on Wed. because tomorrow I have to go to Open House for work, and then straight to Choral Practice, so I know I won't be able to stamp tomorrow :(

Valentine's bags

I told my teaching assistant that I would make bags to hold our Valentine's. These were quick and easy to make, since I didn't want to spend much time on something we'll only use once most likely. I made one with Rose Red and Groovy Guava DP. I folded the Rose Red piece in half, then just inserted two sheets of Groovy Guava inside. I taped the Rose Red piece to the GGuava pieces, and then stapled up the sides. I ran a piece of Close to Cocoa DP through the Big shot using the

scallop circle die, and added a non SU flower sticker to it. The handles are Purely Pom. Satin Ribbon. The other bag I made the same way using Candy Lane DSP. I used the Top Note die to cut the birds out of the DP, and used Pink Pirouette striped Grosgrain for handles.

SC214

I didn't have much stamping time today. I did my taxes, did some laundry, ran some errands, and finally decided I had time to make a card, but then couldn't think of what I wanted to do since my new stuff will be here on MONDAY!!! and I just kept thinking about those things. But I liked this week's sketch, so I decided to use that as inspiration. The set I used is Blooming with Love. I layered each layer of DP on Kraft paper. The main image was cut out with Curvy Rectangles Nestabilities, and I sponged the embossed part with Regal Rose ink. I added a button and a clip from the clips assortment.
